Political Test

I saw this political test on a blog I frequent, DylanGreene.com. Below are my results. It looks like that I might have communistic thoughts based on my results. I do believe in a national health care system, and the environmental cause.

If you want to take the test yourself, here is the link:
The Politics Test

You are a

Social Liberal
(66% permissive)

and an...

Economic Liberal
(26% permissive)

You are best described as a:

Democrat

Explanation of the results:

Higher permissiveness, on either axis, indicates a "live and let live" philosophy. Of course, we're almost conditioned in America, "Land of the Free", to think positively of such a philosophy. But practically speaking, permissiveness (or its opposite, regulation) can create any number of outcomes:

For example, on the economic axis, a highly permissive system, like the American system of the early 1900s, might mean things like low taxes and increased scientific innovation. It might also result, as it did back then, in unrestricted child labor and millions of poor people with black lung.

At the other end of the economic spectrum, a highly regulated system might conserve the environment, establish national health care, and eliminate poverty. But as we've learned from the Soviet system, extreme regulation can also lead to stagnation, sameness, and unhappiness.

Delta Platinum

I got just my Delta Platinum Card. I had to fly 75,000 miles on Delta to qualify for that status. After flying so much, I definitely can say I know to to pack my stuff into a roller. Rolling your clothes, even your socks, underwear and dirty clothes, is probably the best technique is getting everything to fit.

Anyway, the best perk is the potiental upgrades to First Class. The access to the Crown Rooms is also nice if my flight is late.

This is probably the first and last time I'll ever qualify for such a thing.

Now I'm just waiting for my Platinum Marriott Rewards card to come in (75 nights to qualify). It should be coming soon as I qualified that for that about a month ago.

Minneapolis, MN

I was in Minneapolis for a week for a business trip in mid July. I was pleasently surprised how nice it was there. The summer weather was quite mild. Lots of people riding bikes around in the evening. I just hope I don't need to visit it in the middle of winter. =) I even got a change to visit the Mall of Americas and the enjoy the log fumes ride at Camp Snoopy.

Here are some pictures that I took while there.
  • City Buildings.
  • Skyline.
  • Emptying the Lock: lock.jpg. They filled it just so that a waverunner could get upstream. What a waste....

    Amazon vs B&N

I recently ordered some books from both Amazon and B&N. I usually prefer to order from Amazon, but the textbook I needed was cheaper at B&N even after taxes. Now the stuff I ordered from Amazon hasn't shipped yet as I put in the order on Friday afternoon with free shipping. My order with B&N was put in Saturday afternoon and I just got an email saying that it has just shipped(Saturday night). Talk about service, but too bad I really don't need my textbook next week.

I know that if it was shipping to NY and the order was in by Monday afternoon with free shipping, there was a very good chance you'll get it that Friday. Hopefully the Amazon stuff ships soon as I could use one of the books asap.

    Getting Carded

I was buying lottery tickets in Georgia the other day and the cashier actually asked for my age and wanted id proofing it. I was taken aback from the question and actually me a couple of seconds to stutter out my age of 27.

Maybe because of the hair style I have and the recent haircut that I got makes me look young. But there is no way I look younger than 18 years old(the legal age to buy lottery tickets).

I guess I should think about getting a new hair style...........

    Ordering at Starbucks

How do you order drinks at Starbucks? A recent trip to Starbucks opened my eyes on how you can order drinks. Some of the ones I have heard....
    • a grande moche frapp in two cups
    • a tall coffee in a grande cup

I have recently starting to ask to get my lattes extra hot since I am finding that my latte aren't as hot I want them in the morning..

And now when people ask me to get them a frapp at starbucks, I order them a grand moche frapp in a venti cup with extra whip. And boy do they have a smile when I bring it to them. =)

    Techie Salaries..

Ran across this article from Slashdot.org.

It is the 2005 Salary Survey. I question if the salary ranges are correct. They seem a bit low compared to what I have seen on the job sites. I think since it is a survey, people report their salaries lower than they actually earn to scare from being anothers from joining the techie field. Another reason could be that the entry level people had the time to reply to the survey while the senior techies just don't have time to answer survey questions. =P

But if the survey is correct, having a tech job isn't as great as everyone thinks it is.
