Customer Support Numbers

How come companies start hiding their customer service number on their websites? I placed an order at a .com store. I noticed that my shipping address was incorrect as it was going to ship to my old New York address (yes, i'm an idiot at times). As I was bit concerned about it, I wnated to speak with a live customer rep but I couldn't find a phone number on their website. While searching the web for it, I came across a phone list for different companies and how to by-pass the IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system. It definitely would be a helpful thing to have bookmarked.
